Federal High Court axes Fiberesima as AGN boss

Ibinabo Fiberesima has been removed from her position as President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) based on a Lagos Federal High Court ruling.

The reason behind this verdict given by Justice James Tsoho was that the election that brought Ibinabo into the position was conducted against court order. He then ordered all parties involved to maintain the status quo.

The suit which led to the ousting of Miss Fiberesima was filed by an actor named St. Maradona Mikevine, the national treasurer in the election that saw popular Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, emerge as AGN president. Mikevine, had stated in his suit that the election that saw Ibinabo assume office was conducted in the face of a subsisting court order restraining the conduct of AGN election. Emeka Ike was the one that filed the initial law suit that brought the first order.

In her defence, Ibinabo had insisted that she did not elect herself into office and that Mr. Mikevine should have gone through the proper channels instead of heading to court. She was sworn into power as AGN president in October 17, 2014 despite the law suit by Emeka Ike on July 25th, 2013.
