It is has been gathered according to press statement released by M-Net, the popular urban African music channel Channel O will stop airing on the DStv channel 320 and Gotv channel 70 on 31s March this year.
As M-Net continues to evolve, the decision was made to refocus its strategy to achieve a more efficient and streamlined approach that will enhance our subscribers’ television experience by providing them regionalised music contents.
One of the results of this new approach was the termination of the rest of Africa feed of Channel O, effective from Tuesday 31, March 2015, to allow M-Net create customised music contents according to regional preferences on its existing Africa Magic brands, where the rest of Africa’s music talents will get ample space to shine. From 1 April, subscribers can tune to Africa Magic World to keep abreast of the best in West African music talents.
The decision to terminate Channel O, according to the company, has certainly not been an easy one but the subscribers were assured delivery of compelling local contents by means of distinct and complementary brands.
