Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has ordered all his former political appointees to immediately return all government properties that are still in their possession.
The Governor’s directive to this effect, which came as a rude shock to his former appointees, was aired on the radio and television channels of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC, Owerri.
According to the government announcement, the Office of the Chief of Staff was also directed to go after the erring political appointees and recover all such properties that are still in the custody of Okorocha’s former aides.
Vanguard investigations revealed that the governor’s move not only sent cold shivers down the spine of the former appointees, but has also generated serious division in the ruling party’s camp.
However, some careful political watchers in the state, described the current mind-set of Okorocha as “expected and a very healthy development”, especially as he did the same thing to Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s appointees as soon as he assumed office.
They advised the embattled appointees not to complain because they were the same people that applauded Okorocha for embarking on the recovery of cars used by Ohakim’s appointees.
