Turns out Jose Mourinho is the world’s biggest optimist

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho hasn’t had a lot to smile about this week. His team were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris St Germain after a performance generally agreed to be a bit of a stinker, and he’s been receiving criticism right, left and centre.

Little wonder he took the opportunity to have a pop at two of his tormentors-in-chief – Sky pundits Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher – in his weekly press conference.

Slightly more surprising was when he gave one reporter a lecture on why it’s important to be an optimist.

A cynical person might ask why, if he’s so optimistic, Mourinho has a habit of setting his team up so defensively when they have a one-goal lead…

Anyway, Carragher seemed to take it all in good spirits – he just spotted a missed opportunity for Monday Night Football, when he tweeted, “Doesn’t look like I’ll get Jose on MNF!!”

We think you could be right, Jamie.
