Two judges on the New Zealand version of the X Factor were fired last night after being accused of bullying a contestant live on air.
Husband-and-wife Natalia Kills and Willy Moon were judges on the show and they launched into a tirade after the performance of contestant Joe Irvine on the live shows last weekend.
Kills accused Irvine of ripping off her husband’s style and look in his performance of Cry Me A River – labelling him “cheesy”, “disgusting” and “absolutely artistically atrocious.”
Her husband Willy Moon then chimed in comparing Irvine to a fictional serial killer.
“It’s like Norman Bates (from the film Psycho) dressing up in his mother’s clothing. It’s just a little bit creepy, and I feel like you’re going to stitch someone’s skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience,” said Moon.
Judge Kills then proceeded to go off on Irvine yet again, prompting a furious backlash from the public calling for the duo to be kicked off the show.
